CANADIAN WAR MUSEUM

  • In 2009, the 250th anniversary of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, the Canadian War Museum offers a new perspective of a historic event, as eighteenth and nineteenth century images portray the battlefield as it was seen by the soldiers of Montcalm and Wolfe. Visit 1759-2009: The Battle of the Plains of Abraham until January 3, 2010.
  • From June 5th to January 3, 2010 Camouflage - From the battlefield to the catwalk explores the art and science, the dazzle and deception of Camouflage - the military strategy, and pop culture phenomenon.


CANADA AVIATION MUSEUM
An all-new exhibition in Ottawa celebrating 100 years of flight has lifted off at the Canada Aviation Museum. Canadian Wings: A Remarkable Century of Flight recounts the incredible stories of people and their achievements in aviation since the first historic flight of the Silver Dart 100 years ago.


CANADIAN MUSEUM OF CIVILIZATION

  • See how fur trading helped build Canada. Profit & Ambition: The Canadian Fur Trade, 1779 – 1821. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the fur trade—in the hands of the Montreal-based North West Company—linked together for the first time in the future colony of Canada, from sea to sea to sea. The exhibit runs from September 10, 2009 – September 12, 2010.


NATIONAL GALLERY OF CANADA

  • Over the last 50 years, Gabor Szilasi has created one of Canada’s most significant and influential bodies of photographic work, comprising environmental portraits, domestic and urban views of Montreal and Budapest, and images of rural Quebec. October 9, 2009 - January 17, 2010
  • The Drawings and Paintings of Daphne Odjig comprises nearly 60 works, including examples of Odjig’s history and legend paintings, murals, erotica, abstractions and landscapes. They articulate the breadth of Odjig’s engagement with her personal and cultural history, and also trace the remarkable aesthetic development of this artist from her initial experimentation to the mastery of her media. October 23, 2009 - January 3, 2010


CANADA SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM

  • 2009 marks the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s discovery of the stars using his now-famous astronomical telescope. To mark this celebration, the Canada Science and Technology Museum is offering a variety of programs and resources to encourage everyone, particularly children and youth, to discover the wonders of astronomy.
  • Braille: Knowledge at your Fingertips, until January 4, 2010. Get to know Braille the person and braille the language. Compare historical and modern tools such as the last braille press used by CNIB, a folding mobility cane and an auditory digital clock. Explore devices developed in Canada to help people with vision loss live independently, and learn about the Canadians who have contributed to these innovations.

  • Canada's Waterscapes: Yours to Enjoy, Explore and Protect, November 6, 2009 to January 3, 2010. Explore some of Canada's beautiful aquatic places in this new and inspiring travelling exhibition. Discover the amazing diversity of life that depends upon our aquatic ecosystems.
