Experience a silly and smart play this winter in Ottawa
Ottawa Travel Guide | Tuesday, 06 December 2011 13:56
For a few laughs and some fun while on holiday in Ottawa, travellers can make plans to attend the Twelfth Night celebration, hosted by A Company of Fools at the National Arts Centre. This January 5th, the company will kick off their upcoming season with a special show that depicts their take on the classic Shakespearian comedy.
The original Shakespearian play was created in the early 1600s to complement the conclusion of the holiday season. Set in Illyria, which is located on the east coast of the Adriatic Sea, the story follows the adventures and mishaps of Viola, who is shipwrecked and must stay in disguise as a pageboy to find her way back to her loved ones.
This winter in Canada’s capital city, Twelfth Night will be turned upside down and performed by a troupe of actors who specialize in humour and silliness. Every year, this show proves to be a great holiday celebration, blending together classic theatre with some modern jokes and clever themes. This ticket sales from the performance will go towards fundraising for future shows the company will host as well, so tickets will be in support of great local theatre.
