Canadian culture comes alive at Parliament Hill

As the center of government for the entire country, Ottawa is one of the most important cities in all of Canada. Nowhere is this more evident than in the impressive architecture and towering spires of Parliament Hill. The attraction is viewed as a must-see for travellers on tours of Ottawa, and vacationers can find out what all the fuss is about by exploring this magnificent monument on the Ottawa River.
Known to locals as The Hill, Parliament Hill is a large building complex that boasts unique gothic architecture rarely seen outside of the U.K. Comprised of three breathtaking buildings, the structures were originally a military base, only repurposed as a seat of government when Queen Victoria declared Bytown (the classic name of Ottawa) the capital of Canada in 1859.
Since then, the amazing buildings have been one of the biggest attractions in the country, drawing more than 3 million visitors each year, according to CTV. Tours, available in both English and French, will take visitors through the House of Commons, the Senate and even the newly renovated Library of parliament, giving travellers a taste of Canada's power in one of the most immaculate structures in the country.
