Head to the Ottawa International Motorcycle Show this winter
Ottawa Travel Guide | Mercredi, 30 Novembre 2011 12:37
Travellers who can't get enough of the open road are in for a treat when they visit Ottawa this January. Everyone riding on two wheels will be journeying to Canada's capital city for the International Motorcycle Show that is sure to be one of the most spectacular events around. Although this region can be a bit chilly for riding at this time of year, the cold does not stop international motorcycle enthusiasts from coming to this thrilling spectacle every year. There is a strong fan base of bikers in Ontario who prepare for this event throughout the year.
This three-day celebration of motorcycle design, technology and collectables will be in its third year this January 13th, 14th and 15th, the event's website states. Due to its popularity, the venue has been moved to the CE Centre next to the Macdonald-Cartier International Airport for easy access and its ability to hold thousands of spectators.
There are activities and attractions that the whole family can enjoy at the Motorcycle Show. Guests can see a fashion show featuring the latest riding gear, live brand presentations and have the opportunity to win a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Vendors will showcase various bike-themed items throughout the CE Centre, including everything from leather jackets to motorcycle earrings. Travellers who attend can view a seemingly endless array of bikes representing dozens of manufacturers, such as Suzuki, Husqavarna, Vespa, Yamaha and Victory.
The Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group will be hosting its own exhibit this year. This organisation will share its expertise on old and unique motorcycles and conduct demonstrations on how to navigate these classic vehicles. Many members plan to bring their bikes to the show so guests can admire their handiwork.
Pre-sale tickets are already available through the event's Facebook page. Travellers who are planning to attend and want to buy their tickets in advance can also give back to a good cause. A percentage of every ticket sold will benefit the Ride for Dad organisation which raises awareness and helps fund cancer research. Tickets can be purchased individually or in special group rates for families with children up to 15 years old. Kids aged 6 and under can attend for free.
This event is a must-see for travellers who have an interest in motorcycles and will be in the Ottawa region this January.
