Ferme Acer Farms

Marcel Lalonde & Sylvie Dupuis
Ferme Acer Farms

“Red Angus mothers do it best,” declares Marcel, speaking from both experience and solid research. Marcel is a veterinarian and Sylvie a biologist. In 1997, when they decided to launch a cow-calf operation, they chose the Red Angus breed which has since met all expectations. These self-sufficient, docile cattle produce tender, delicate, well-marbled meat which has become very popular with top Ottawa-area chefs. Today, more than 100 head are at home on the 350-acre spread and breeding bulls have found a welcoming market in Western Canada.

Acer is the Latin word meaning maple, and the grand old trees at Ferme Acer are presently sharing their name, and the property, with the fourth generation of the original Lalonde family.
