Voyageur Provincial Park

The most easterly of Ontario’s provincial parks, Voyageur is so named because it was the site where early French voyageurs had to portage around once furious rapids – now submerged due the to Carillon Dam just north on the Ottawa River.  The park is a favourite of hikers, campers, boaters, canoeists and fishing enthusiasts.  Cycling and hiking trails, and winter skiing and snowshoeing are likewise popular.  If you don’t have your own gear, you can rent canoes, boats, paddleboats, tents, sleeping bags, cook stoves, barbecues, kayaks – you name it!
