Watson’s Mill

Most certainly historic and possibly haunted, Watson’s Mill is a fully operational 1860 grist and flower mill located on the Rideau River in the village of Manotick. Visitors can see the mill in operation Sunday afternoons, learn about its history and technology from costumed interpreters – and take home a bag or bags of fresh stone-ground whole wheat flour. The interpreters will also be happy to recount the story of Ann Crosby, a young woman who married one of the mill’s co-owners – Joseph Currier – a year after the Mill was constructed. Just a month after their marriage, the young bride was killed in a tragic accident at the Mill. Reports of ghostly sounds and sightings of an apparition have continued to this day.
