Preston Street is the heart of Ottawa's Little Italy neighbourhood. Renamed Corso Italia to reflect the Italian heritage of the area, Preston Street has recently completed a beautification project that provided broad sidewalks, trees, decorative lighting and beautiful street furnishings. The Preston Street BIA sponsored a heritage mural project, which transformed the utilitarian underpass of the Queensway into an art gallery that celebrates the history of Italian settlement in Ottawa. Centrally located between Dow's Lake and the War Museum, Preston Street is a 10-minute walk or taxi from all the downtown hotels. The variety of Italian and international cuisine restaurants and sidewalk cafés along the boulevard make Preston Street a "must-see" in any tour of the Nation's Capital. Preston Street hosts two annual festivals "Italian Week" in June and "La Vendemmia" in September.
