Aléa, the Casino du Lac-Leamy’s brand new nightclub opened with much fanfare on October 30, 2014, for an industry and media preview the night before its official Halloween launch.
Last Thursday night, the Ottawa-Gatineau region’s who’s who were invited to the Casino’s trendy Bar 7 for an exclusive cocktail reception, which was a warm-up to Aléa’s unveiling at 9:30 p.m.
As the diverse crowd made up of accountants, fashion bloggers, journalists, tourism industry members and other local professionals entered the bar, each guest was given a lighted bracelet. When the bracelet started to flash, they were to make their way up to the cylindrical, dome-like and bronzed Aléa.
The new nightclub sits in the middle of the Casino’s busy gaming floor and in true modern fashion; it appears to be suspended from the ceiling. Aléa is part of the Casino du Lac Leamy’s $47 million overall renovation and is a new exciting addition to the Ottawa-Gatineau region’s clubbing scene.
Right on time, at 9:30, Bar 7’s crowd was illuminated with white flashing lights and each VIP guest made their way into the mysterious golden cylinder hanging over head with their glowing bracelet leading the way.
Though the club is located amidst a sea of glowing slot machines and spinning roulette tables, its Casino location is forgotten as soon as you walk through the door.
With high, darkened walls covered in special noise reducing material, the only sounds you’re aware of are those coming from the DJ spinning the latest tunes. And if there’s one thing Aléa screams, it’s exclusivity!
Aléa has a capacity of only 219 and with VIP seating as well as a dance floor located so close to the central DJ booth, there isn’t a bad seat in the house.
Aléa even takes VIP seating to a new level, as each leather-clad seating area is armed with its own bar, complete with a selection of serving glasses and an ice sink. There are also a few VIP tables on Aléa’s second floor, offering special guests a more private setting and a bird’s eye view of the busy dance floor.
Presently, the new club is only open on Friday and Saturday nights, with one night featuring Top 40 hits and the other offering electronic dance beats. Cover is $12.00 CDN.
For a truly VIP experience, begin your evening with dinner at the Casino’s gourmet restaurant Le Baccara.
Savour a gourmet French-inspired meal and pair it with a wine from Le Baccara’s wine cellar, which is home to 500 different wine varieties and is part of a larger 13,000-bottle collection. After you’ve eaten, take in some of the Casino’s games before heading to Aléa to dance the night away!
