Another O-town showdown has begun! Just this past weekend, Ottawa’s hometown football team, the Ottawa REDBLACKS, secured their spot in the 2015 CFL Grey Cup, which will see them take on the Edmonton Eskimos on Sunday, Nov. 29 in Winnipeg.
This is a big deal for Ottawa, as it hasn’t had a Grey Cup team since the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1981! So to kick off the race for the coveted Grey Cup, Ottawa Tourism and Edmonton Tourism have entered into a friendly bet. Here’s how it’s going to work; whichever city loses will have to send out four tweets showcasing locations in the winner’s city. The losing city will also have to feature one Instagram post and one Facebook post praising the winning city. Additionally, the losing city will have to change its social media profile picture to something designed by the winner for two days.
This friendly wager resembles a similar bet made between Ottawa Tourism and Tourisme Montréal during last year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, when the Ottawa Senators took on the Montreal Canadiens. The losing city from this wager had to send the winning city a congratulatory gift pack. In this case, Ottawa sent a prize to Montreal.
To get in on the action on Sunday, follow Ottawa Tourism (@Ottawa_Tourism) and Edmonton Tourism (@EdmontonTourism) on Twitter. Big Joe is ready to take on the Eskimos… He’s channeling the flannel for a Grey Cup win! GO REDBLACKS GO!!!
