July 22 – August 4, 2017
Expose your mind and soul to the extraordinary sounds of the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival (Ottawa Chamberfest). The largest chamber music festival in the world, Ottawa Chamberfest presents more than 100 performances from renowned artists at incredible venues across downtown Ottawa. The festival endeavours to satiate fans of this form of classical music, as well as create inclusive atmospheres to introduce the style to new listeners during its two weeks. The festival’s all-encompassing approach is uncommon, making Chamberfest a welcomed rarity.
Chamberfest headliners this year include Stephen Hough, Choir of Trinity College Cambridge, Miró Quartet and the Art of Time Ensemble among others. There are also special events, such as the Kubrick Mashup during which multiple musical acts celebrate the legendary film director’s musical choices (July 30).
- Chamberfest is a two-week festival that takes place each year from late July through early August, spanning the August Civic Holiday long weekend.
- Chamberfest presents about 100 performances featuring about 450 artists from across Canada and around the globe.
- Chamberfest was established in 1994, and has steadily grown into the biggest event of its kind on the planet, presenting over 120 concerts and attracting more than 60,000 chamber music enthusiasts.
- Many performances take place in the perfect acoustical settings offered by a number of historic Ottawa churches, though theatres and performance venues are also part of the mix.
